It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

The Ingathering of the Tribes

At the beginning of the Three Weeks between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av I said that I would post a group of posts highlighting incidents that demonstrate the need for there being a national Jewish home. Alas, the events of the last weeks have been as great a demonstration as any that we are in need of Israel. Israel's sovereignty is being assailed by the United States, the EU, Russia, and of course the usual Islamic protagonists. Why should this night be different from all others?

As I struggled to sift through the countless incidents that best illustrated my point, Ron over at Partizane has posted perhaps the greatest testimony as to why Israel, why a Jewish homeland. It is a documentary on the 1,000,000 Jewish refugees from the Arab countries in which many had lived from the time of the Babylonian exile, and later, after the Roman exile; long before the rise of Islam. This story needs to be told again and again, and so I broadcast them here with a tip of the kipah to Ron.

Kol ha kavod my brother!

Thanks for posting this, Shtuey. The more who see this, the better.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. This story needs to become as ubiquitous as the Shoah.
