Arab states have expressed reservations over a US request that they make initial steps towards normalizing their relations with Israel so as to encourage Jerusalem to freeze West Bank construction, according to Arab diplomatic sources quoted by the London-based Arab daily Asharq Al-Awsat on Wednesday.
According to the report, Arab leaders that were approached by the Americans were of the opinion that the time was not yet ripe for warmer relations with Israel.
US Mideast envoy George Mitchell has been trying to persuade Arab leaders to act so that the Israeli government does not feel that it is the only regional player that has come under pressure from Washington.
The report comes two days after the White House announced that it had asked several Arab countries to engage in confidence-building measures with Israel in order to encourage the resumption of peace talks with the Palestinians.
It's time for the farce to end. Jerusalem needs to close George Mitchell's office, send him home, and stop wasting time talking to this White House that we all know has only one goal for Israel: its destruction.
If the purpose of the freeze is to gain concessions on normalization from the Arabs, and the Arabs admit that it's not going to happen, then the "freeze" talk must be terminated immediately. Even maintaining a false pretext of compliance with the White House is dangerous, as it allows them to continue on their current road, while they generate greater expectation, and hostility, among Arabs, as Bill Clinton did with his Camp David fiasco. If Bibi does not bring "settlement freeze" talks (read evacuation of Judea and Samaria talks) to an end by declaring there will be no freeze he should be removed by his MKs and replaced with a truly rightest PM who will resist the White House, and reject American foreign aid. Three billion dollars from a false friend is not worth the sacrifice of the State of Israel to a lying douchebag Jew hater like Marack and his pals. The F-35 deal has already been made useless. Spare parts orders from the US are being curtailed by bureaucratic nonsense. It's time to end this farce and send the Marack lackeys on their way.
