Apparently, the hostilities between Hashemite and non-Hashemite came to a head at a soccer game this weekend when "Jordanians" were cursing "Palestinians," Palestine, the PLO, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa mosque (you know things are bad when people are cursing inanimate objects). The "Palestinian" players were getting bottles thrown at them, as were their fans.
Jordanian officials claim they are just looking to make sure there are no obstacles for Palestinians to be able to return to "their original homes inside Israel."
Newsflash: These are not "refugees." These are Arabs living in the country that was made for them.
The reality is that Hashemite officials believe that Bibi and Leiberman are planning on forcing Jordan to become the Palestinian state, securing the land west of the Jordan as the Jewish state, as was originally mandated.
Jordan's Interior Minister Nayef al-Kadi told Al-Hayat that the measure was to thwart the Israeli "plot" to turn Jordan into the Palestinian state. But that's what it is dumbass. You're part of the reason it's not.
He also said that Palestinians who have their citizenship revoked are not being expelled. They can carry the yellow ID cards that are issued to people who have homes and families in Judea and Samaria.
The contradictory statements from Amman, Ramallah, and elsewhere make me think that the Hashemites are simply shitting their pants. Fact is that they should be. Jordan is the Palestinian state. That was why it was created. The Hashemites usurped it and made it their "kingdom." Israel has not so quietly backed the regime, but now that the United States is forcing the situation to a head, and there is a government in Jerusalem that actually believes in the continued existence of Israel, perhaps the Hashemites are afraid of their illegitimacy being exposed.
The double speak and bullshit is so thick that I can't properly sum this article up. You're just going to have to read it and experience it for yourselves.
The real story is that the Hashemites want to preserve their kingdom and flood Israel with Arabs who should have their homeland in Jordan in the first place.

Well, I could be integral to Seymour's recovery if only you knew what my day job was. Back to the topic at hand- I recall that during the throes of the Iraq war, many refugees were given "asylum" in Jordan, but I believe most of them were Shiites, but I am not sure- perhaps they only allowed Sunnis in after all, which would be consistent with the dominant Kingdom. I know many were looked down upon and persecuted, eventually scapegoated for impacting the economy there adversely. I believe many were expelled and sent back to Iraq with questionable fates. Is this at all related to what is happening there in Jordan presently?
I'm honestly not well immersed in the Iraqi refugee situation in Jordan. I know that they were being considered "guests" of the Hashemites, who have access to free education and other services. I have seen stats saying there are as many as 750,000, costing Jordan around $1 billion a year (I wonder if we pick up the tab for that considering we're the cause of the Iraqi refugee problem. The EU, and Germany have been accepting refugees from Jordan and Syria. As a general trend, Sunni Iraqis went to Jordan as they felt safer there, while Shiites predominantly went to Syria, which is no surprise.
The demographics in Jordan have always been a powder keg. A Hashemite minority controls the "Palestinian" majority. Abdullah would love nothing more than to fill his Palestinian population's collective head with the dream of over running the land west of the Jordan, or at least making them feel like they have no choice, which is what a lot of this is about. Abdullah doesn't give a damn about Palestinian statehood, and neither did his father. The only thing that family gives a shit about is staying in power and staying alive.
