It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

Gaffey Rides Again

Joe "Gaffey Duck" Biden rides again. Apparently he's visiting Iraq where he was interviewed by George Snuffalupaggus. George, doing his best to act like a grown-up journalist, asked Gaffey if the U.S. was going to get in Israel's way if she chose to launch an attack against Iran's nuclear facilities.

Biden said the United States:
"cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do."

That Israel can do:
"what's in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else."

Snuffy got more specific, asking if Israel could move on Iran even if the US didn't agree with the decision:
"Any sovereign nation is entitled to do that."

"If the Netanyahu government decides to take a course of action different than the one being pursued now, that is their sovereign right to do that. That is not our choice."

I seem to recall Secretary Clinton making similar remarks regarding Israel and the settlement question. We all know how the White House has honored that principle. The White House gets to decide where Jews can live, what their borders will be, and who will control Jerusalem. The fact that Israel so far does not agree with this principle must really chap Marack's ass.

So while statements honoring Israel's right to autonomy as a sovereign nation are nothing more than White House lip service, at least Gaffey has put the current administration's mind numbing hypocrisy on display. This nonsensical game playing has really grown quite tiresome.

Here's the Shtuey solution. On Iran, Netanyahu needs to tell Marack that Israel's hands will not be tied by the United States. If the White House and the international community fails to act, Israel will do what is necessary to secure her citizens and neutralize the regional threat.

On the settlement question; since it is obvious the Arabs are not going to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, this must be made a precondition to new negotiations, period. Construction in established settlements will continue. If the Arabs continue holding their obstructionist position then Israel will continue to build in Judea and Samaria as it sees fit. There is no point in continuing self-imposed restrictions on building when the Arabs are never going to agree to having a state west of the Jordan.

If Marack has a problem with this, Bibi should just quote the Vice President. You don't think Marack will taze Gaffey's ass do you?
