It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

More Pennsylvania Waffles

So Arlen "Magic Bullet" Specter is switching parties. Not a surprise really considering how much money George Soros has been pumping up his rear lately. I assume that Olympia Snowe will be next, just as an insurance policy since Al Frankin can't seem to get his seat at the table. The Democraps will be one seat away from a filibuster proof majority which means that any possible hope for a Congressional check against the Emperor will have been swept away.

And guess who's taking credit for it? Joe Gaffing Plugs Biden of course. It was the money asswipe.

I think the Repelican Party is just as worthless as the Democraps, but at least there could have been some kind of barrier. Now it's looking like that is fading away.

Does this really change anything? Not really. We were fucked yesterday. We are fucked today, and we will be fucked tomorrow.

Keep sending those emails and making phone calls to your representatives. It's really helping out a lot. And of course, keep sending out those press releases 'cause that's doing a lot of good.

Gosh, it sure would be nice if there was a group bringing the independents and centrists together...but folks would rather keep banging their heads against the wall. High five!

Shtuey, I sense your frustration, (it would be kinda hard to miss) but it seems to me the Democrats ARE bringing the centrists, moderates and Independents under one banner and pushing both parties' bases out. That makes it much harder for the disaffected to find common ground and unite, even if they could find the resources to do so.
The WaPo poll showing 23% self-identified liberals, and 21% self-identified Republicans seems to back that up. Of course, nobody's looking at the numbers that way, and I could be wrong.

I think it's hard to suss out where those people are at. Let's face it, a lot of people voted for the Tushy because they were sick of Bush and that's what Americans do. There was of course peer pressure and secret fear that "people will think I'm racist if I don't vote for the black guy," like they stamp it on your forehead when you leave the polls or something.

And as we all know, they make the polls say whatever they want to say. I think we'll have a better idea what's what in 2010, provided ACORN hasn't stripped away the last illusions of free and fair elections in this country.

This is what I keep coming back to with the Tea Parties. Even if it's Republican astroturf, about a million people turned out because they're pissed about a lot of different issues. It's too bad that the conservatives are the ones harnessing that anger when it could be driven for the cause of serious government reform, like actually having government operate within the bounds of the Constitution.

Give me 100 days as President and I will straighten out this entire mess. I think I'd start with the DOJ handing out indictments, lots of indictments, with Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Dodd, Frank, and Pampers at the top of the list. Then I suppose I'd freeze George Soros' assets and have him deported to Venus.

Shtuey, Your comment above is exactly correct. I would like to see all the liars, cheats, and scammers, on both sides of the aisle exposed, investigated, and then GONE.

As you express, all I want is a Constitutional government, regardless of party. Truly "of the people, ....."

Not going to happen!, unless someway, somehow, unless enough of us come together, despite labels, and create storms of unbefore seen proportions.

I have been a voter for 47 years, yet this past election is the first time I have come to the realization that the 2 parties that exist in this country are not Rs and Ds, but actually THEM and US.

Thanks for your insight.

I agree with awakened it is us and them. We must find a way to meet in the middle, no labels and throw these asshats out of office.

As for Specter he may have run as a Repelican but he has always been a Democrap at heart. That is the party he started out in...history repeating itself!

I am on Conservative blogs all Specter is doing is fueling the fire...2010 it's turning into a battle a cry. Will 2010 see more voter turn out than in recent American Political History?

Meanwhile Eric at Tygrrrr Express claims he has found someone worse than Arinna Huffington Really?

Shutey --
I agree with your frustration. Neither party represents "middle America".

However, I left PUMA when it became apparent that the #1 PUMA cause is
"single payer healthcare".

It was the threat of single payer healthcare that got me out door-knocking -- AGAINST it.

I married a US citizen and immigrated to the US from Canada. I have also lived in the UK for a number of years when my Dad was on a work assignment. I "know" Single Payer, Government-Mandated Health care like no PUMA ever can. I have even worked "in" the system for 10+ years, before moving to the US.

I am so grateful for the medical care we receive in the US. While I agree that there needs to be massive reform, and healthcare needs to be "universal" in the sense that everyone should be subject to mandatory coverage, much like auto insurance, I am vehemently AGAINST any kind of one-size-fits-all government run program.

However, those in the Democratic party who seem to be Hillary supporters refuse to listen to the serious drawbacks of their mythical "single payer" solution, esp. from those who have lived and worked in similar systems. They just tune us out. La-la-la, we can't hear you. They refuse to explore alternative solutions. It's pretty damn insulting...to hear PUMAs tell ME that they know so much more about single payer coverage, how it's the "only" solution, etc.....

My parents retired to a small town outside of Toronto. Their Family Practitioner retired about 5 years ago. They still don't have a Family Doctor now, because no one has taken over his practice, and the other ones are "closed". My dad just had a massive heart attack because he was denied preventative procedures BEFORE he required a triple bypass. You people have NO idea of the rationing and bureaucracy, not to mention fraud, waste and abuse that goes hand-in-glove with "single payer".

That's why there is no meeting of the minds on any of the core issues facing America today. Everyone is entrenched in their ideological positions, and once entrenched, refuses to even CONSIDER alternatives.

Specter just showed that he's the same old political opportunist as Obama and the rest of the clowns in Washington. Personally, I never liked the guy and never trusted him. Any man who can't control his shifty eyebrows when talking shouldn't be in office.
