US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Israel on Thursday that it risks losing Arab support for combating threats from Iran if it rejects peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
Clinton said Arab nations had conditioned helping Israel counter Iran on Jerusalem's commitment to the peace process.
"For Israel to get the kind of strong support it is looking for vis-a-vis Iran, it can't stay on the sidelines with respect to the Palestinians and the peace efforts. They go hand in hand," Clinton told the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee.
"They (Arab countries) believe that Israel's willingness to re-enter into discussions with the Palestinian Authority strengthens them in being able to deal with Iran," she added.
- Everyone in the Pampers administration has their head up their ass.
- Everyone in the Pampers administration is on board for the Israel beat down and nuking.
Concerning a funding request for the Palestinians, Clinton said the State Department would ensure that no US taxpayer money goes to Hamas."No aid will flow to Hamas or any entity controlled by Hamas," she said.
Clinton repeated that any new Palestinian Authority government that included Hamas must recognize Israel, renounce violence and abide by previous agreements.
However, she indicated that the US would not necessarily cut funding to the Palestinians even if Hamas joins the unity government and fails to meet the three above conditions, noting that the US continued to provide funds to Lebanon, whose government includes Hizbullah.
"We are doing that because we think, on balance, it is in the interest of the United States," she said. [Shtuey note: in the interest of the US...you mean like backing Pinochet, arming Osama bin Laden, backing the Shah...not a lot of great choices by our asshat government over the past 30 years, and the trend continues by backing radical Jihadists...fucking awesome Hillary...and by awesome I mean COMPLETELY FUCKING STUPID]
Huh? No aid will flow to Hamas or any entity controlled by Hamas, but the Palestinians will get funding even if Hamas is part of the unity government? First you said Hamas wouldn't be allowed to be part of the unity government if it did not meet the conditions you laid out. Now they can be and that government will get funding.
In February JPost reported that Clinton said:
"I believe that it's important, if there is some reconciliation and a move toward a unified authority, that it's very clear that Hamas knows the conditions that have been set forth by the Quartet, by the Arab summit."
"They must renounce violence, recognize Israel, and abide by previous commitments, she said of Hamas, "otherwise, I don't think it will result in the kind of positive step forward either for the Palestinian people or as a vehicle for a reinvigorated effort to obtain peace that leads to a Palestinian state."

Hillary serves at the pleasure of the President. That's what she signed on to when she accepted the role as Secretary of State, so nothing she says surprises me. This is why I didn't want her to accept this position.
Yeah, I stupidly thought there was a chance she'd use her head and not her employee status. So I guess you're voting for sellout. Fraud is harder to prove.
It is good, in the end, for PUMA to be reminded that Hillary is, after, all a politician: and she is going to protect her own hide.
This is healthy for us. This is how we keep from becomes slaves -- like the Obama supporters who still can't admit that he is both a fraud and a sellout. The difference between us and them is that we will tell the truth and call you out -- no matter who you are. We have integrity. They don't.
As for Hillary, she is not a fraud. She is just a sellout (right now). It's a shame really, because we know she is so much better than this.
I hope she will return to her senses long enough and soon enough to be elected President one day. But right now: common friends, common enemies. As long as she continues to carry water for the Obama administration, she is part of the problem. I admire and respect her, but I won't condone his Obama-like behavior from her. It's just not attractive at all.
She's a sellout. She's back to being a self-centered politician. Recently, she has said a couple of things that I thought were really inappropriate. While Capt. Phillips was still being held by the pirates, she held a press conference where she laughed about having to deal with pirates. Very inappropriate and I hope his family did not see this. Then, her comment about Dick Cheney which was completely off topic, not what the question was about, and really petty and partisan. I have lost a lot of respect for her. I did not want her to take this position, but she did, so now she will have to live with it.
Oh Shtuey! I personally never thought I would see the day that this post would grace your site.
My opinion, well you know my opinion; Hillary is a liar, fraud, "istsomething" that is carrying the Pilgrim's water in hopes of maybe one day approaching the table and having the Clinton family be part of that group, (which is NEVER going to happen as she is a woman from the midwest). Bambi is, and has been following the same orders that Hillary has been following for years. The american aristocracy got what they wanted; the presidency and the secretary of state.
She is both a sellout and a fraud. Remember Ickes said we reserve the right to take the fight to the Convention Floor. She gave a suspension speech which was really the introduction to her concession speech. She promised a real roll call...instead she let herself be rolled over...after that I saw her weaknesses....no longer the hawk, a coward...I see all of that as fraudulent behavior if not outright lies.
When she took the SOS position agreeing to sellout by working for the usurper. She caved to his stupid whims when she gave up her Senate seat.
So my vote is both!
shtuey- I wish I had a faster internet connection, as I have really been at a loss. I didn't watch all of the hearings yesterday, but I was able to locate the link, eventually:hhttp://www.cspan.org/Watch/watch.aspx?MediaId=HP-A-17682e
I saw the part at least 3/4 of the way down, maybe longer, when a young congressman, who was obviousy sympathizing with some cause, asked about visitation and opening up access. I was impressed that Hillary was trying her hardest to maintain her assertiveness that Israel was doing all that they could in such a regard and he was remiss in requiring more. I saw it in her tone and words. There were other instances as well. It is helpful to get as much straight from the horse's mouth, both in terms of words, deeds, and body language. i find that anything taken second hand or out of context may be suspect, as you know. I wish I had more technical capabilities. And, btw, I do not put anyone on a pedestal and would not make undue assumptions re: anyone's allegiance- I just want as close to the facts as I can get.
lililam; it's hard for all of us watching Hillary working for that boob. I agree it's important to get as close to the source as possible. In this time, with this administration I don't think finding anything resembling truth is going to be easy. I'm an idealist. Some would consider it a weakness. When I see someone who says one thing and then another, who knows her boss is all wrong, I expect them to stand up and say, "I call bullshit on that." I don't think it's going to happen.
No, it probably won't, and it is difficult to accept and watch. I just think she must feel more effective from within that from without, but i agree that it feels inappropriately kissy some times.
Shtuey, what seems to be largely forgotten is that this "jihad" is aimed at all of us. It is particularly dangerous now for those nations closest to the combat, but they have already stated their desired goal: ridding the world of infidels.
Logistically, those countries closest to their "headquarters" are at greatest risk at the moment, but these fanatics are intent on carrying this obscene message through to its conclusion. For me, the two most dangerous words coming out of that quarter are "madras" and "clerics". The breeding ground of most of the ills generated from the insanity they foist on the world.
Enlightenment and civility have no place in their movement but it is best to concede that their desired end includes any and all.
