Everyone is lauding your speech as some great statement about race. All you really did was officially label yourself the Black candidate, and implied that we can heal centuries of injustice by electing you President. You tried to legitimate Wright's anger as generational. John Lewis is of that generation is he not? He marched with Dr. King and supported non-violence. Nothing legitimates racism, I don't care what generation you are from.
So let me lay out your general election defeat for you so there is no misunderstanding. The Republican 527s will run ads with you and your pastor across the country. You will not get support from White males or most Jews (with the exception of Chomskyites who jump at the chance of supporting anti-semites). You won't win Florida or Michigan due to your stubborn obstruction of revotes. You won't win Ohio. You very well may lose Pennsylvania. And of course we know you won't win any of the red states you won in primaries and caucuses. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Sucks doesn't it?
It wouldn't have been so bad if you hadn't run as the Patron Saint of Hope and Change. You told America you were different. You told America that you were transparent (well, we do see right through you). You told America you were going to change Washington. Instead you turned out to be a lying fraud who surrounded himself with anti-semites and racists.
Now you are slipping in the national polls against Hillary, and in states like NC and PA. Hillary is beating McCain by wider margins than you. I would venture to guess that the Democratic Super Delegates are shitting themselves right now. What do they do?
If you go into the convention with more delegates, but you can't win the election what will they do? Will they back Hillary Clinton, the candidate that actually can beat McCain, or do they nominate you to be the less qualified Affirmative Action candidate (what else can we say about you if you can't win, but you get the nomination?).
You used race like a mallot to smack down the Clintons, Gerry Ferraro, Ed Rendell, and anyone else who has criticized you or your campaign. Well now those chickens have come home to roost, to paraphrase your mentor/uncle.
With any luck, Hillary will surpass you in the popular vote, if not the delegate count, and the path to her nomination will be clear. The icing on the cake would be that you lose your Senate seat in two years and fade into obscurity.
The worst part is that you have made the path for a legitimate African American candidate that much harder. Way to go Barack!
