It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

Remembering the Holtzbergs

It has been a year since the terror attack in Mumbai claimed the lives of Chabad Rabbi Gabi Holtzman, his wife Rivka, and their unborn child (may G-d avenge their blood). By all accounts these were people of good will, fulfilling the Chabad mission of strengthening Jewish life in communities around the world.

Our own local Chabad Rabbi shared a memorial video with us this evening as we lit a candle in their memory. The spirit of their work endures. The lives they touched endure. Their son Moshe endures.

I think the video speaks for itself.

I was so saddened by the tragedy of these martyrs. Thank you for posting the video shtuey. I am not Jewish but feel a strong kinship since my faith was born of judaism. I use the term martyr as an honorarium since these brave and devout souls were missionaries offering comfort to pilgrims in a strange land. Their legacy is noble and reminds us all that generosity and love are the tenets that bind our faiths in common alliance against the enemy that would destroy the light in a darkened world.

Thank you for your memorium WCA. It is the mission of our people to bring light where there is darkness. The Holtzbergs exemplified that, in spades.

Thank you for posting this. I still cry when I think of the brutal senseless killings of this family. I will never understand, but we have to accept this as Gd's will--easy words to write. I hope you don't mind me mentioning that among the innocents murdered was a member of Toldos Avraham Yitzak in Mea Shearim. He left behind a lovely wife and 8 children. These brutal murderers have spread their evil far.
