Likud Objection: It's Time To End The "Peace Process" Farce

This week, Tzipi Hotovely led what may be the first action in a move to change the course of the current government, and the lie that is Israeli-Palestinian "peace process." A letter crafted by Likud MKs, and signed by half of the Likud faction of the current government, some of whom felt it was not a strong enough statement, says in part:

"We Likud MKs are turning to you due to reports that you would agree to freeze settlement growth temporarily in parts of Judea and Samaria, despite our promise to the voters to continue building in the settlements. The Likud has always been in favor of natural development in Judea and Samaria, including during the election campaign.

"As Likud members, we cannot support a two state solution on principle. [Such a solution] is neither possible, nor proper, due to the moral right of the Jewish people to the land and for security reasons. Saying otherwise delegitimizes the Israeli struggle for the land."

Likud MKs are arguing that Netanyahu's talk of a national consensus on two states is utterly false. Netanyahu and Likud campaigned as being against two states, that the other side is not interested in peace, which it is not. The Israeli electorate overwhelmingly voted for that platform, and for a nationalist agenda that is to the right of Likud. The Israeli people are sick of going down the path of peace and paying for it with bus bombings, shellings, rocket fire, mortar attacks, and intifadas. They signed agreements. They armed the Palestinian security forces, which they are doing again. Jews died as a direct result. The cry became "Land for Peace! Land for Peace!" Ehud Barak evacuated southern Lebanon. Israel was repaid with kidnapped soldiers and Hezbollah rockets that set northern Israel on fire. They evacuated Gaza and got more rockets and Gilad Shalit has been held against international law for three years now.

Hamas and Fatah have never, at any point, demonstrated that coexistence is achievable, or desired. It's time to stop dreaming and time to start living.

Like the rest of my people, my family has been deeply tied to Eretz Yisrael for thousands of years, and the modern state of Israel for generations. I have kin who fought with the partisans in Mandate Palestine; who fought for Israel's independence; who retreated from Egyptian forces in 1973, nearly being killed at the battle at the Suez. From America family members fashioned clothes and dolls for the children of the halutzim (the pioneers who drained swamps, and irrigated the land); raised money to build hospitals and, when completed, the funds to furnish them with the latest technologies to serve Jew and Arab alike. When I was a boy I turned my allowance into trees to be planted in Israel, or other acts of tzedakah for Israel.

I have watched Israel struggle against Arab hatred, against the world's hatred. Israel's struggle for acceptance is the struggle shared by every Jew; to be able to walk among the peoples of the world without being a target of hate, a target of prejudice, racism, injustice; to be able to wear a kippah if one wishes, without reprisal; to be able to live in peace, and know no fear.

Like M'dinat Yisrael, the state of Israel, I have taken my share of punches, and I have given my share. I have stood up for the Jewish people, even when it was unpopular to do so (when is it not?). And like Israel I have fought against injustice not only on behalf of Jews, but anyone. And like Israel, historically the largest supplier of humanitarian and financial aid to the Arabs in Judea and Samaria, I supported the right of the Arabs living under the thumb of the PA to be free. They have a right to be free of mafia terror regimes that kill them in the streets for talking to an IDF soldier, or having tea with them. They have a right to be secure in their homes, even if they choose not to support Hamas or Fatah. The homosexuals among them should not have to live in fear of being thrown off buildings, or lynched.

Time and again Israel has extended her hand to their leaders. Time and again the hand is bitten. I had hoped for peace. I had hoped for coexistence. But this will not happen. It will not happen when President after President is more concerned with their legacy than Israel's security. It will not happen when those that control the government in Washington continue to fail to realize that Fatah leaders like Mahmoud Abbas are not moderates. They are genocidal maniacs who want every Jew between the Jordan and the Mediterranean gone, or dead. [It is also possible, increasingly so, that world Jewry is going to have to accept that Washington knows this and does not care as it is on board with the eradication agenda. Was it not the man in the White House who referred to Israel as a "constant sore?"] There is no difference between Fatah and Hamas save one: Hamas uses Islam as the means of focusing Jew hate, whereas Fatah is ambivalent to the religious connection. The end is the same. Fatah has shown remarkable discipline in that it has kept its guns and terror brigades relatively quiet so as to maintain the air of "moderation" and "diplomacy." But as Mohammed Dahlan and others have made clear, Fatah supports the Hamas campaign against Israel. They are more than happy to let Hamas do the overt dirty work of attacking Israelis. They have done an excellent job fooling the world. But then again, the world hasn't shown much in the way of tolerance for the Jewish people since Israel's birth.

The protesters who shed tears for Arabs when Israel launches operations to end rockets being fired into her territory, in the face of world inaction, care nothing for the Jewish men, women, and children who live in a perpetual state of post traumatic stress in places like Sderot, like they used to in Deganyah and all over northern Israel, when Syria controlled the Golan. When I was a boy the gannim, the nursery schools, were still convening in bomb shelters, where the children often slept, because it was easier to meet there rather than having to constantly move the young children there from above ground when the Syrians started shelling. Now they want the Golan back. Yeah right, only in Shimon Peres' wet dreams is that going to happen.

Let me be clear. This hatred, these constant acts of genocide are not because of settlements, or checkpoints, or fences, or walls. This hatred and killing was going on long before any of those issues existed. And now it is obvious to me that the terrorist thugs who run the PA, legitimized and supported by the world community (especially the United States...so much for the always bullshit "war on terror"...the biggest lie of the 21st century so far) to the detriment of the Arabs themselves, and Israelis, are beyond hope. Peace gestures are useless. Entertaining the thought of coexistence with them is useless.

Offer them an Arab state in the halls of the UN and they rejected it.

Between 1949 and 1967 when Arabs controlled Judea, Samaria, and East Jerusalem there was not one word about creating an Arab state there.

When offered borders that compromised Israel's security, and relinquished parts of Jerusalem; twice the Arabs rejected it.

Israel turned Chevrun, home of the Cave of Machpelah (the tombs of our patriarchs and matriarchs) over to the PA and the limited space Jews had to pray in was desecrated. Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, our holiest place we relinquished to the Waqf which limits Jews access to Machpelah, and the Temple Mount. Israel could have denied Muslims access to Al-Aqsa, and the Dome of the Rock, the site where Abraham bound Isaac, the place where the Holy of Holies stood. Israel didn't do that.

When Israel evacuated the settlements in Gaza Hamas continued launching rockets, and without Israel there to keep the peace, Fatah and Hamas began openly killing each other, and untold numbers of Arab civilians in the streets. And the rocket attacks continued, largely unanswered until December 2008.

Now the offer has changed: A demilitarized Arab state, with secured Israeli borders, a unified Jerusalem as Israel's capital and, what should have been granted in 1947 and is the real source of the conflict: recognition of Israel as the undisputed, permanent homeland of the Jewish people...this too has obviously been rejected.

It is enough of this game. It has not brought peace to Israel, or prosperity to the Arabs of Ramallah, Jenin, or Jericho. The Arab goal is still the same, and segments of the Israeli government still seek a path with parties determined to destroy the Jewish state. That time is over. It is time to reject Arab rejectionism.

Build in the Judean hills in defense against this menace that perennially seeks to destroy Israel. No talks. No arming of security forces. If the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, and Hamas are so against living with Israel let them leave. Let the Arabs in Judea and Samaria decide for themselves whether they would rather stay or go. The Arabs of East Jerusalem have already spoken their mind. They have no desire to be part of Palestine. In Israel there are jobs. In Israel there are schools, healthcare, and the right to vote. The Palestinian Authority pockets the world's money and offers their people none of those things, not in any quality or quantity that anyone would voluntarily consent to be part of it. The PA is a sad joke, bitching to the world and whining like little babies about the plight of the Palestinians. Their plight is the PA. PA rejectionism is their plight. There would have been a Palestine in 1947 if not for the baseless hatred toward the Jews. You reap what you sew.

It is enough already. Enough. You have rejected Israel and you have rejected Palestine. You have only been emboldened by the fool in the White House who made you think he would crucify Israel for you. Israel is getting the F-35s it wanted. Israel and the United States are moving forward with the Arrow project. You offer nothing but violence based on your immoral rejection of the Jewish people's desire to have what you claim you supposedly want; a homeland...a homeland that you routinely reject because accepting it would mean having to live next to filthy Jewish dogs. The only thing you and the current White House have in common is an overt hatred of the Jewish state. Good luck with that.

By Abbas' own lying mouth he admits his family left (h/t Israel Matsav via LGF) the city of Tsfat when Israel was becoming a state because they feared reprisals for Arab massacres. Tsfat happening to be one of the places in Israel where there has been an unbroken Jewish presence, even after the Roman exile, it was probably attractive to Abbas' family because where there were Jews there were jobs. Some things never change.

Mahmoud, you don't want to live with the Jewish dogs? Go then. Take your terror mafia with you and let the river lie between us.

Now, Israeli politicians like Hotovely must bring the "peace process" game to an end.

I thought I put up a comment last night on this thread, but I used my old laptop which probably crashed before it made it through.

Anyway....

What I said in that comment was that I was wondering who is advising Obama on the Middle East issues. As we see today, the White House has issued a "clarification" on what Biden said about how the US would look the other way if Israel bombed Iran. I'm seeing so many different views coming from the same administration that I don't know which one to believe. It's this "straddling the fence" thing with Obama...says one thing and means another, depending on the group of people he's talking to.

I wish Obama had someone like you, Shtuey, who would enlighten him on the real history of what's going on and to look at the lives of the people living in fear of attacks by Hamas in Israel. They can't ride a bus without fear of a suicide bomber boarding. They can't bring their families to a restaurant for the same reason. If the same thing was happening in the U.S., we would be declaring war and sending in the troops.

I'll probably never get a true grasp on the intricacies of the Middle East, but I do have enough common sense to see that Israel has a right to defend itself, especially when they are surrounded by Arab states which vow to destroy them.

Keep up the good work, Shtuey. I give you credit for not holding back. I'm so tired of getting beat up by Obot's and can't help but lose interest in trying to fight my battles day by day.

The truth is that Obama has always predicated his Mideast policy on facilitating Israel's destruction. From his leftist upbringing to the the anti-Jewish/anti-israel cabal he's been in since he was at Columbia, the Jews and Israel have always been the problem to him. Samantha Power, who supports and Arab invasion of Israel, Susan Rice, Rashid Khalidi, Brezinski, his foreign policy advisors hate Israel. Dennis Ross got pulled off the Iran gig to be NSC director. He's being isolated and shrouded.

The only thing that can protect Israel from Obama is Israel standing up and telling him to fuck off.

Biden played the same good cop that Hillary did on the settlements. We can't tell Israel what to do blah blah blah...then that's exactly what they turn around and try to do.

IObama is a hateful idiot and a moron.

Thanks for that info, Shtuey...which is why I keep coming back here. I need to hear the truth.

Regarding your poll about Palin, I voted all the above but would like to add one more...

Trig is actually Michael Jackson's baby and after she killed Michael Jackson, she knew this info was all going to come out in the will so she resigned....

I thought there was a resemblance...;)

There are so many more I could have put on there...she's Typhoid Mary, she caused the Black Death in Europe; she's broke the arms of the Venus de Milo; and let us not forget that Hurricane Katrina is also her fault.

Shtuey, I agree with your assessment of Obama here in comments. For one thing, he is so closely tied to the Muslim world. Although he was distanced from his father, he was intrigued by him and had much available to him to learn who he actually ways, including his father's very public writings. One side of his family mostly Muslim. He has never written that off. Anyone thinking this does not color his view on Islam isn't thinking.
And as I've often said, why would anyone take a chance on making him the leader of the most powerful nation on earth (on electing him, on believing him and his intentions toward Israel or freedom and liberty)?

About Netanyahu: I thought his speech was brilliant and I thought he put the Palestinians in a place they could not recover from. He said first Palestine must recognize Israel's right to exist and second he demanded that Palestine be disarmed. Third he said Israel Jerusalem would remain a unified state, and I believe then he said something about the settlement being broached in other agreements after these three conditions were met.

Again, I saw this a brilliant because clearly, Palestine will never accept his conditions.

Have I read this wrong? I'm not Jewish I but stand behind Israel and I want them to concede nothing. I blog about this a lot. I value your opinion. I know the nuances can sometimes not be distinguished by someone like me, who has no family affected (except in the world view), and who had no familial connection.

About your last paragraph about Abbas and his family leaving at statehood. That's the story of so many, especially the influential Palestinians at the time. Israel begged them to stay - but the Mufti of Jerusalem created havoc in the area. The idea of the right to return is a huge hoax on the world. Thanks to the Brits.

Love your blog. I'm adding you to my blogroll.

Maggie, I agree that Netanyahu's points are basically things the PA will never accept. I believe he stated it as a trap. They have already rejected his proposal. The problem is that by accepting the concept of a PA state, it legitimates the farce and causes the West to bring to bear pressure for concessions that Israel should not have to make. The settlements are a perfect example.

The settlements serve two purposes: giving a place for Jews to live in their ancestral lands, and creating a perimeter of defense against PA attacks. With settlements in the Judean Hills, Israeli cities are protected, as is Israeli airspace, particularly the space around Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, which would be in range of rockets if Israel was made to accept the 1949 ceasefire lines, which is what the Saudis want, and I believe Obama wants.

Halting natural growth construction stands against all previous agreements. And engaging in the process is costing Israel the ability to complete building in the Judean Hills.

From reading comments in israeli papers, many don't trust Netanyahu to prevent the creation of a PA terror state. By acknowledging that the creation of a PA state could happen, even under the circumstances he outlined, he leaves the door open. And the west has never really done anything to wring concessions from the Arabs; not even Bush, who was no friend of Israel, with Condi Rice telling the Israelis they would have to bisect the country to connect Gaza with the West Bank.

It would have been more effective to say that Israel rejects the establishment of a PA state because...they reject Israel as a Jewish homeland; they reject Jerusalem being the undivided capital of Israel; etc. He left the door open to have his government tied up with this continuing farce, rather than confronting Iran and the economy. If he had couched it the way I suggested then the message would be clear that Israel will reject the formation of a PA state while these conditions are true. Arab rejectionism would do the rest.

Of course, the West would shit on Israel anyway, because that's what they do.

In the end, Netanyahu's way might achieve the same goal, but obviously Likud MKs don't consider this being forthright with the voters. Their concern is that they ran as being against settlement freezes, and the creation of a PA state west of the Jordan. It could hurt the party, in addition to hurting Israel.

The big fear that they have is that he will try a repeat of what Sharon did. Sharon was the father of the Yesha movement, but he betrayed the settlers by evacuating Gaza. Israel got rockets in return and Hamas control of Gaza. It was a disaster. To do the same in the West Bank would be suicidal. It will all hinge on whether Bibi stands firm on natural growth. If he caves to even a temporary freeze there is gonna be "trouble in River City."

Thanks for adding me to your blogroll!

Shtuey, I understand what you are saying. It's not about the outcome for the Palestinians because there will be no outcome, but about defending Israel on principle rather than going along with the ruse that Palestine is even worthy of negotiating with. Some things are not negotiable and this is one of those things.

I appreciate your thoughtful answer.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell Maggie.
