It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

Shabbat Nachamu

The Shabbat following Tisha b'Av is the Sabbath of Consolation. The readings from the prophets are words of comfort, to ease us from our mourning and help us begin the transition to the Days of Awe of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, a little less than two months away.

And while we are still filled with anxiety with what is happening in Israel, we can allow ourselves the time to be comforted.

I lost a dear friend this week, Nancy Armstrong, the Ms Placed Democrat. Some of you knew her as NavyVet48. I cannot eulogize her now, the loss hurts too much now. But it is my hope that her family will be comforted by her memory, and inspired by the life she lived.

In the shadow of that loss I have a reason for rejoicing. A new member of my family came into the world on the morning of Tisha b'Av. My cousin gave birth her first child. I take the birth of a Jew on Tisha b'Av as a sign that things are looking up.

And so, here's Yeshaya's advice for what we should do, the words of the prophet in the shadow of Tisha b'Av
Ascend a lofty mountain,
O herald of joy to Zion;
Raise your voice with power,
O herald of joy to Jerusalem —
Raise it, have no fear...

Israel is threatened. The Jewish people are threatened. Make your voice heard, and have no fear.

Pakistan More Peaceful Than Israel

That's right, Vision of Humanity, an organization with no real purpose, other than generating more useless platitudes, has ranked the peace quotient of the nations of the world. Israel ranks 141 out of 144 as one of the world's most unpeaceful countries.

Countries listed as being MORE peaceful than Israel? Here are a few:
  • Sudan, where the government has been executing a campaign of genocide in Darfur for more than five years.
  • Pakistan, which is currently engaged in fighting with the jihadist Taliban, and which has played host to jihadi leaders for at least a decade. Other recent peaceful events include the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, and of course the constant tension with India over Kashmir.
  • Iran, which has been slaughtering its own citizens in the streets for over a month, and whose president has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel, and which is working on building a nuclear bomb to use on Israel and threaten its neighbors (but since Israel is less peaceful I guess that's okay). Iran also funds terror organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah, the two groups responsible for the two most recent military conflicts engaged by Israel.
  • North Korea whose testing of missiles and nuclear weapons, and threats to attack the United States are just not that bad.
  • Democratic Republic of Congo...do I need to comment on that?
  • Myanmar where the brutal regime suppresses all dissent, killing monks and keeping the duly elected leader under house arrest for the better part of 20 years.
  • China, where an ongoing campaign of genocide is being waged in Tibet.
  • Lebanon?
You can see the rest of the list here.

Now before you get really pissed off, you should know that this organization is run by people with the intellectual capacity of a toddler, which is actually insulting to toddlers. Here's some excerpts from their statement of "About Us."

Peace is the essential prerequisite because without peace we will be unable to achieve the levels of co-operation, inclusiveness and social equity necessary to solve these challenges, let alone empower the international institutions needed to regulate them.

The challenges to which they refer are climate change...which we know is largely a function of our planet's own biology...lack of fresh water, shrinking bio-diversity, and over population. A simple second grade analysis makes it clear that these dingdongs think the main problem is that there are too many people. I mean, isn't the source of all those problems overpopulation? There are too many of us burning fossil fuels so the planet is overheating, right? There are too many of us so there's not enough fresh water, right? We are losing species due to overcrowding and exploitation of resources, right? So, the real problem to these idiots is there are too many people. And the solution is peace. Essentially what these fuck faced idiots are saying is that if we have peace we'll be able to work together to reduce the population.

So what are the peaceful means of population reduction? How about Marack's healthcare plan that basically tells the elderly, you've lived a long life, now go and die already. How about forced abortions? How about sterilization? How about telling Jews they can't build new housing in their communities?

See what happens when you just let peace break out? If only Israel wasn't standing in the way.

But this is my favorite part of their "About Us" statement. This is fucking classic:

Vision of Humanity is a strong proponent of the need to further study, advocate and act on peace.

Yes, let's study the problem. Then we'll tell everyone peace is great. Then we'll make a list to show everyone who the problem people are.

I can feel the peace swelling inside me...oh wait...that's my colon. I have to take a dump.

The Useless Idiots of Code Stink Strike Again

Just when you thought you had finally finished redefining stupid, Code Pink raises the bar with another useless idiot campaign. This time the ladies that intelligence forgot are campaigning against AHAVA, an Israeli company that produces cosmetics and therauputic products made from Dead Sea minerals. Code Pink's beef? Ahava is stealing precious mineral resources from who else? The Palestinians.

What better way to protest than to buy from the company you're boycotting and using their product in public. My you have such lovely skin, must be that Dead Sea mud you're wearing. Sadly, it's not making you smarter.

Firstly dumbshits, you might want to take a look at a map and notice that the southern portion of the Dead Sea does not border disputed territory. Second, the Palestinians have no mineral rights as they have no territory, a country, or legal status as they rejected statehood...four times! I'm not going to go into the history and whys because you are clearly too ignorant and propaganda prone to grock any of this.

Just so you understand how stupid these people are, go to their Ahava protest page and read their instructions for protesting Ahava. They are encouraging people to go into the store, buy the mud, put it on their bodies, and stand outside the store.

Really.

Am I alone in thinking this is actually going to boost Ahava sales?

Code Pink, you give the women's movement a bad name.

Just admit your real beef is that Ahava is being produced in a Jewish community in Judea, and like the Resident for whom you slave, you want that land Judenrein so that the Arabs will be free to kill their own people and train the next generation of homicide bombers without having to be bothered by the Jews. Wait...that's giving you too much credit for thinking that you might actually research all this before you put bikinis on and protested.

She blows hot air just like a liberal...yes she duzzzzz!

My advice to you O friends of Israel is this:

Find out if you have an Ahava store near you. If so, indulge yourself with the purchase of one of their fine products. I have slathered Dead Sea mud, in Israel, all over myself and let me tell you something, it feels good, and your skin will thank you.

If you don't have an Ahava store near you, you can click on the badge on my blog that will take you to a site where you can buy Ahava, supporting Israel and pissing off Code Pink at the same time.

If you're a blogger, put an Ahava badge on your site and encourage your readers to also buy these fine products.

Well, at least Code Pink was out in the streets supporting Israeli human rights while Hamas rockets were falling on southern Israeli cities. Oh wait...that didn't happen because the human rights of Jews don't matter to Code Pink....Israel deserves getting rocketed....my mistake.

Hey Code Stink, go shove it up your ass.

The Lesson of the Fall of Beitar

Tisha b'Av is most commonly associated with the destruction of both Temples in Jerusalem; the first by Babylon, the second by Rome. Tisha b'Av is also the day that the city of Beitar was conquered by the Romans with some 500,ooo Jews being killed after a siege of three years.

The story that is told of why Beitar fell is a lesson that world Jewry must learn as we prepare to battle the forces that will be brought to bear against us by Marack and other leaders of the world.

The story goes that Hadrian was prepared to end the siege because he could not find a way to penetrate the city. Simon Bar Kochba successfully led a rebellion against the Romans for those years. His uncle, Rav Eleazar of Modi'in wore sackcloth and prayed every day for HaShem to not pass judgement on Beitar that day. As long as this happened the city was safe. A Cuthite learned of this and told Hadrian that he could make it so he would be able to conquer the city. The Cuthite enters the city and finds Rav Eleazar who is so deep in meditation he doesn't even know the Cuthite is there. Bar Kochba has guards there so the Cuthite makes it look like Rav Eleazar is whispering in his ear. The Cuthite makes it known to Bar Kochba that the Rabbi told him he plans on surrendering the city to the Romans. Bar Kochba confronts his uncle with this. Rabbi Eleazar denies this, enraging Bar Kochba who kicks Eleazar in response, killing him instantly. Not long after the Romans overran the city, killed Bar Kochba, and more than half a million Jews.

Why...why did this happen? Because Bar Kochba took the word of a Cuthite over the word of his uncle, a learned man, a tzaddik, a righteous man whose petitions to HaShem protected the city.

Now we have Bibi Netanyahu. To whom will he listen? Will he listen to his people? Will he listen to the people of Yesha? Will he remember the enemies of Israel? Or will he listen to the White House? The rumors of the settlement freeze being accepted are still floating around. Even a temporary freeze means the end of Jewish life and access to Judea and Samaria. We will be cut off from our holy places. We will be cut off from these lands our people hold dearly. We will be completely cut off from the tombs of our patriarchs and matriarchs and others.

In America who will Jews listen to, the resident in the White House who says Israel's security is a priority while he demands she accept insecure borders, or Jewish leaders who have staunchly defended Israel and the rights of Jews everywhere to live free from persecution and discrimination?

And which side will Jews take?

I think by now, only the stupid Jew does not now see that Marack's goal is the destruction of Israel. He knows there will be no Arab concessions. He knows that the 1949 ceasefire lines are indefensible. He knows that Israeli airspace will be dominated by Arab anti-aircraft rockets. He knows that he can break the spiritual life of Am Yisrael by dividing Jerusalem. You need to understand what is at stake, and you need to decide whose side you are on. Are you a kapo for Obama, or are you Am Yisrael? There is no middle ground.

The enemies of Israel cannot be negotiated with. They have one goal: Israel's destruction. Sitting on the fence only enables Marack. And for those of you who weep for the Arabs of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, just what kind of future will they have in a state run by the same mafia thugs who brutalize them now; who teach their children to hate and kill and strap bombs to themselves; who throw their opponents off buildings and detonate bombs at their weddings; who kill homosexuals and approve of honor killings? Do you think their lives are going to get better by destroying Israel? If you think so then, quite frankly, you are a miracle of nature because you are so fucking stupid it defies all science and logic that your brain is capable of maintaining even the most basic involuntary nerve impulses that control circulation and respiration. You ought to submit yourself for medical studies.

Am Yisrael, we have no one to rely on but ourselves. We must heed our own council. We need to move to a time when there will be no more Tisha b'Avs. We need to stop allowing our enemies to create them. We can only make peace with those that want it. We must defend ourselves from those who seek to destroy us, and who would use the "peace process" as a means of accomplishing that goal.

Yeshayahu Speaks of Renewal and Redemption

As we move into the afternoon of the fast of Av the readings of the prophets become reassuring, comforting, and speak of the redemption of Israel. Maybe Marack should read verse 17...a lot. The links to the recordings of the readings are listed with the Eicha Chapters.

Isaiah Chapter 54

1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear, break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail; for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations, spare not; lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.
3 For thou shalt spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
4 Fear not, for thou shalt not be ashamed. Neither be thou confounded, for thou shalt not be put to shame; for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and the reproach of thy widowhood shalt thou remember no more.
5 For thy Maker is thy husband, the LORD of hosts is His name; and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer, the God of the whole earth shall He be called.
6 For the LORD hath called thee as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit; and a wife of youth, can she be rejected? saith thy God.
7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great compassion will I gather thee.
ח בְּשֶׁצֶף קֶצֶף, הִסְתַּרְתִּי פָנַי רֶגַע מִמֵּךְ, וּבְחֶסֶד עוֹלָם, רִחַמְתִּיךְ--אָמַר גֹּאֲלֵךְ, יְהוָה. {ס}8 In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have compassion on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. {S}
9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto Me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
י כִּי הֶהָרִים יָמוּשׁוּ, וְהַגְּבָעוֹת תְּמוּטֶינָה--וְחַסְדִּי מֵאִתֵּךְ לֹא-יָמוּשׁ, וּבְרִית שְׁלוֹמִי לֹא תָמוּט, אָמַר מְרַחֲמֵךְ, יְהוָה. {ס}10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall My covenant of peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath compassion on thee. {S}
11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
12 And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones.
13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established; be thou far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear, and from ruin, for it shall not come near thee.
15 Behold, they may gather together, but not by Me; whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall because of thee.
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the fire of coals, and bringeth forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
יז כָּל-כְּלִי יוּצַר עָלַיִךְ, לֹא יִצְלָח, וְכָל-לָשׁוֹן תָּקוּם-אִתָּךְ לַמִּשְׁפָּט, תַּרְשִׁיעִי; זֹאת נַחֲלַת עַבְדֵי יְהוָה וְצִדְקָתָם, מֵאִתִּי--נְאֻם-יְהוָה. {ס}17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their due reward from Me, saith the LORD. {S}

Isaiah Chapter 55

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye for water, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your gain for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto Me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a prince and commander to the peoples.
ה הֵן גּוֹי לֹא-תֵדַע תִּקְרָא, וְגוֹי לֹא-יְדָעוּךָ אֵלֶיךָ יָרוּצוּ--לְמַעַן יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, וְלִקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי פֵאֲרָךְ. {ס}5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee shall run unto thee; because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for He hath glorified thee. {S}
ו דִּרְשׁוּ יְהוָה, בְּהִמָּצְאוֹ; קְרָאֻהוּ, בִּהְיוֹתוֹ קָרוֹב.6 Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near;
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of iniquity his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have compassion upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
י כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר יֵרֵד הַגֶּשֶׁם וְהַשֶּׁלֶג מִן-הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְשָׁמָּה לֹא יָשׁוּב--כִּי אִם-הִרְוָה אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, וְהוֹלִידָהּ וְהִצְמִיחָהּ; וְנָתַן זֶרַע לַזֹּרֵעַ, וְלֶחֶם לָאֹכֵל.10 For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, except it water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, except it accomplish that which I please, and make the thing whereto I sent it prosper.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
יג תַּחַת הַנַּעֲצוּץ יַעֲלֶה בְרוֹשׁ, תחת (וְתַחַת) הַסִּרְפַּד יַעֲלֶה הֲדַס; וְהָיָה לַיהוָה לְשֵׁם, לְאוֹת עוֹלָם לֹא יִכָּרֵת. {פ}13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to the LORD for a memorial, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. {P}

Eicha

As I sit and watch the sun begin to fade, and feel the veil of Tisha b'Av fall, I am keeping in mind all those who assailed me personally with their Jew hate, and how so much of that hate is not simply baseless, but is based on lies that they believe because they do not possess the personal integrity to look further. I think of the idiots who call Israel an apartheid state, those who have never even been there. Nor have they been to Soweto to see what apartheid really was. These sick fucks call Israel a Nazi state, but have no idea what it is like to know that members of their family were made into soap, or wigs, or lampshades, or blankets, but have seen Schindler's List so they understand the tragedy of the Holocaust (I'm not kidding), dare to dictate to us what Israel is, and how it should be, and what it should do, and what Jews should be allowed to say and not say. They have no idea the numbers of Jews that have died because of Oslo, because of Camp David, because Israel made concessions to a genocidal terrorist body because the world says they should. They have no idea how much of Israel's tax dollars have gone to humanitarian, material, financial, and military aid for the Arabs of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.

You Lefty, liberal Jew haters, who veil your hatred of us with supposed hatred of Israel, disgust me. You are a disease. You are a cancer for which I pray we find a cure.

And those of you among the Jewish people that enable them...you are worse. You are the kapos who took our clothes before the showers, and shoved our dead bodies into ovens. You are the Jewish police the Nazis used to clear snow from the tracks so the trains could take your brothers and sisters to their deaths, and herded us onto those trains. You are worse than the Jew haters because you are collaborators. Rahm Emmanuel and David Axelrod are your commanders. You make me sick.

Let the message this Tisha b'Av from the Jewish people to the world be that we will not be slaves again. We will not be prisoners in our own land. Let those who wish to live with us in peace be free to do so, and that those who seek our destruction be bound in failure.

Here is the full English and Hebrew Text of Eicha, the Book of Lamentations, which Jews across the globe will chant tonight, perhaps with a greater sense of kavanah this year as Jerusalem is assailed in a way it has not been in a long time. While the world seeks to tear Jerusalem in half and keep the Jewish people from maintaining sovereignty over its ancient, and eternal capital, our holiest city, where the Israeli government is the only governing body in 2000 that has maintained free access for all the religions who call Jerusalem holy, we chant the words of the prophet Jeremiah, who witnessed the destruction of the City, and the people of Israel led away to exile Babylon.

May those of you fasting, you who mourn Tzion, be comforted. For those of you who have supported the cause of Israel, and the Jewish people at this blog and elsewhere, I am eternally grateful for your support. You are righteous souls. Mourners of Tzion, friends of the Jewish people, pray tonight that tragedy is averted, that Israel, the Jewish people, and the world will know peace, and that the enemies of peace...true peace...are brought to utter failure.

If you wish to hear Eicha being chanted you can listen to it by chapter by clicking on the links to the left which will open a separate window so you can read and listen.

The chapters are labeled correctly, though they don't appear in order due to my lack of technical savvy. You're a bright bunch. I know you'll manage.

Lamentations Chapter 1

א אֵיכָה יָשְׁבָה בָדָד, הָעִיר רַבָּתִי עָם--הָיְתָה, כְּאַלְמָנָה; רַבָּתִי בַגּוֹיִם, שָׂרָתִי בַּמְּדִינוֹת--הָיְתָה, לָמַס. {ס}1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! How is she become as a widow! She that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary! {S}

Lamentations Chapter 2

א אֵיכָה יָעִיב בְּאַפּוֹ אֲדֹנָי, אֶת-בַּת-צִיּוֹן--הִשְׁלִיךְ מִשָּׁמַיִם אֶרֶץ, תִּפְאֶרֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל; וְלֹא-זָכַר הֲדֹם-רַגְלָיו, בְּיוֹם אַפּוֹ. {ס}1 How hath the Lord covered with a cloud the daughter of Zion in His anger! He hath cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and hath not remembered His footstool in the day of His anger. {S}
ב בִּלַּע אֲדֹנָי לא (וְלֹא) חָמַל, אֵת כָּל-נְאוֹת יַעֲקֹב--הָרַס בְּעֶבְרָתוֹ מִבְצְרֵי בַת-יְהוּדָה, הִגִּיעַ לָאָרֶץ; חִלֵּל מַמְלָכָה, וְשָׂרֶיהָ. {ס}2 The Lord hath swallowed up unsparingly all the habitations of Jacob; He hath thrown down in His wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah; He hath brought them down to the ground; He hath profaned the kingdom and the princes thereof. {S}
ג גָּדַע בָּחֳרִי-אַף, כֹּל קֶרֶן יִשְׂרָאֵל--הֵשִׁיב אָחוֹר יְמִינוֹ, מִפְּנֵי אוֹיֵב; וַיִּבְעַר בְּיַעֲקֹב כְּאֵשׁ לֶהָבָה, אָכְלָה סָבִיב. {ס}3 He hath cut off in fierce anger all the horn of Israel; He hath drawn back His right hand from before the enemy; and He hath burned in Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about. {S}
ד דָּרַךְ קַשְׁתּוֹ כְּאוֹיֵב, נִצָּב יְמִינוֹ כְּצָר, וַיַּהֲרֹג, כֹּל מַחֲמַדֵּי-עָיִן; בְּאֹהֶל, בַּת-צִיּוֹן, שָׁפַךְ כָּאֵשׁ, חֲמָתוֹ. {ס}4 He hath bent His bow like an enemy, standing with His right hand as an adversary, and hath slain all that were pleasant to the eye; in the tent of the daughter of Zion He hath poured out His fury like fire. {S}
ה הָיָה אֲדֹנָי כְּאוֹיֵב, בִּלַּע יִשְׂרָאֵל--בִּלַּע כָּל-אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ, שִׁחֵת מִבְצָרָיו; וַיֶּרֶב, בְּבַת-יְהוּדָה, תַּאֲנִיָּה, וַאֲנִיָּה. {ס}5 The Lord is become as an enemy, He hath swallowed up Israel; He hath swallowed up all her palaces, He hath destroyed his strongholds; and He hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and moaning. {S}
ו וַיַּחְמֹס כַּגַּן שֻׂכּוֹ, שִׁחֵת מֹעֲדוֹ; שִׁכַּח יְהוָה בְּצִיּוֹן מוֹעֵד וְשַׁבָּת, וַיִּנְאַץ בְּזַעַם-אַפּוֹ מֶלֶךְ וְכֹהֵן. {ס}6 And He hath stripped His tabernacle, as if it were a garden, He hath destroyed His place of assembly; the LORD hath caused to be forgotten in Zion appointed season and sabbath, and hath rejected in the indignation of His anger the king and the priest. {S}
ז זָנַח אֲדֹנָי מִזְבְּחוֹ, נִאֵר מִקְדָּשׁוֹ--הִסְגִּיר בְּיַד-אוֹיֵב, חוֹמֹת אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ; קוֹל נָתְנוּ בְּבֵית-יְהוָה, כְּיוֹם מוֹעֵד. {ס}7 The Lord hath cast off His altar, He hath abhorred His sanctuary, He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn assembly. {S}
ח חָשַׁב יְהוָה לְהַשְׁחִית, חוֹמַת בַּת-צִיּוֹן--נָטָה קָו, לֹא-הֵשִׁיב יָדוֹ מִבַּלֵּעַ; וַיַּאֲבֶל-חֵל וְחוֹמָה, יַחְדָּו אֻמְלָלוּ. {ס}8 The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; He hath stretched out the line, He hath not withdrawn His hand from destroying; but He hath made the rampart and wall to mourn, they languish together. {S}

Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord? {S}

Lamentations Chapter 4

א אֵיכָה יוּעַם זָהָב, יִשְׁנֶא הַכֶּתֶם הַטּוֹב; תִּשְׁתַּפֵּכְנָה, אַבְנֵי-קֹדֶשׁ, בְּרֹאשׁ, כָּל-חוּצוֹת. {ס}1 How is the gold become dim! How is the most fine gold changed! The hallowed stones are poured out at the head of every street. {S}
ב בְּנֵי צִיּוֹן הַיְקָרִים, הַמְסֻלָּאִים בַּפָּז--אֵיכָה נֶחְשְׁבוּ לְנִבְלֵי-חֶרֶשׂ, מַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵי יוֹצֵר. {ס}2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! {S}
ג גַּם-תנין (תַּנִּים) חָלְצוּ שַׁד, הֵינִיקוּ גּוּרֵיהֶן; בַּת-עַמִּי לְאַכְזָר, כי ענים (כַּיְעֵנִים) בַּמִּדְבָּר. {ס}3 Even the jackals draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones; the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness. {S}
ד דָּבַק לְשׁוֹן יוֹנֵק אֶל-חִכּוֹ, בַּצָּמָא; עוֹלָלִים שָׁאֲלוּ לֶחֶם, פֹּרֵשׂ אֵין לָהֶם. {ס}4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, and none breaketh it unto them. {S}
ה הָאֹכְלִים, לְמַעֲדַנִּים, נָשַׁמּוּ, בַּחוּצוֹת; הָאֱמֻנִים עֲלֵי תוֹלָע, חִבְּקוּ אַשְׁפַּתּוֹת. {ס}5 They that did feed on dainties are desolate in the streets; they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills. {S}

ז זַכּוּ נְזִירֶיהָ מִשֶּׁלֶג, צַחוּ מֵחָלָב; אָדְמוּ עֶצֶם מִפְּנִינִים, סַפִּיר גִּזְרָתָם. {ס}7 Her princes were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was as of sapphire; {S}

Lamentations Chapter 5

1 Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us; behold, and see our reproach.
