It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

Yes Neda, There Is A Leader of the Free World

Well, it didn't take long for Bibi to take Caroline Glick's advice. On Beat the Stress this morning he stood up in support of the protesters, referring to the protests as a "freedom movement," seeing through to the truth of this thing. The people of Iran are not taking bullets to simply replace one mullah's power structure with another. They want the mullahs gone.

Behind the scenes it's Rafsanjani vs Khamenei. On the streets it's the people vs the mullahs. Bill Levinson at Israpundit has presented the fulcrum that could pivot the lever that enacts the power of the protesters, who are now really starting to understand their strength.

Do not underestimate the power that is conveyed to them through the broadcasting of their videos, photos, and stories. It is building their confidence, which has received an incredible boost from Bibi, the first world leader to point out that this is not simply about the election, that it is about breaking the power of the theocracy. I would imagine his words are being broadcast into Iran via Farsi Israel radio.

For an excellent analysis as to the regime's fleeting options go on over and see what the Sultan of Knish has to say.

As for me, I have been saying since his initial meeting with Marack that Bibi is the world leader against Obamanism (don't let the complimentary language fool you...notice that he doesn't actually give support to Marack's response, or lack of response). When he continued to resist White House pressure, asserted his position on Israel's history and security in the face of Marack's appeasement of jihadism at Cairo I called him the Leader of the Free World. His endorsement of the protesters in Iran cements his position. Marack is sitting on the fence as usual, still hoping he gets the chance to go to lovers' lane with Igogettajob. Bibi is off the fence standing for freedom.

H/T to Israel Matsav via Atlas for the video. Getting up before noon on a Sunday to watch David Chucklehead pretend to be a journalist is not on my agenda.

A leader of a democracy is almost morally bound to stand in solidarity with those fighting for their freedom, facing bullets, tear gas, and chemicals. At least there is one person on the world stage not acting like a weather vane. Leader of the Free World people.

If you watch the latest video feed from the livefeed screen at the top of the blog you will see footage of protesters who commandeered riot shields and clubs from the police. I've seen footage of police running from them. I think the tipping point is fast approaching. Everything is far too fluid to predict final outcomes. But I think it's safe to say that Iran is not going to be the same, for better or worse.
