It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when? ~ Rav Hillel, Pirke Avot

Syria's Getting Tense (UPDATE)

UPDATE: The Iranian Guardian Council rejected annulling the election results. The public mourning of protesters has been banned. Live rounds are being fired to disperse crowds. And a stadium is being occupied by the military, which sound to me like they are preparing for mass incarcerations or worse. Looks like they're going to try and break the protests and not look back. WHERE IS THE WEST?!?

So while we've all been watching the events unfold in Iran, what of the regime's satellites of love? Personally, I'm thinking Dr. Assad and the Bathists (feel free to steal that name for your band, but when you make it big be sure you mention that you got the name from Shtuey) are evacuating in their britches. Let's face it, since the fall of the USSR, Iran has been their principle patron. If the theocrats wind up hanging from the gallows that sorta leaves Syria in the lurch doesn't it?

Just read what Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem said on Monday:
"Gambling on the fall of the Iranian regime is a sure loss. The Iranian people realized their right to vote at the ballot box. They must not express their desire to save lives in Iran by inciting demonstrations."

Walid, you must shove it up your ass. The elections there are a sham, and the only rights they have are to obey the regime, not unlike your little corner of hell. So again, kindly shove it up your ass. Without Iran behind you, just how long do you think you would last?

The statement, coming the same day as an intensified crackdown on the protesters, with increased arrests, and the break up of even small groups of people on the street, underscores the position the regime sees itself in. We are coming to the zenith of this event. Will the protesters break under the violent pressure, or will they march on? Increased support from the West, in line with PM Netanyahu, will be a big help.

And the mullahs in Iran are starting to sweat. The Iranian Guardian Council admitted that there were voting irregularities...almost Marack style:
"Statistics provided by the candidates, who claim more than 100% of those eligible cast their ballot in 80-170 cities are not accurate - the incident happened in only 50 cities."

[See? It was only 50 cities...what's everyone getting so bent out of shape about?]

Council spokesmen said that it had not yet been determined whether adjustments would change the outcome of the "election." In other words, the mullahs don't know what the hell is happening. If they can break the protesters Igogettajob stays. If not they will try to placate them with a Mousavi win, that is if the protest hasn't turned to full scale rebellion by the time they get around to making up their minds. Now that we Mohammed's testimony, it's put up or shut up time for the West.

The worthless scud Marack is of course still doing nothing. He probably has the TOTUS working on a somber speech mourning the dead protesters and calling for reconciliation among the theocrats. If Carter 2.0 continues to sit this out, the best chance in 30 years of overthrowing the mullahs, I would hope that expatriated Iranians never give him a moment's peace until he is driven out of the White House in disgrace. He is a national embarrassment.
