It's the same in any lingo

How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master's bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

What Did You Expect?

My my, so much handwringing, so little time. Everyone's getting their bowels in an uproar over healthcare reform. The Republicans and Conservatives are freaking about socialized medicine. PUMAs want real healthcare reform.

I'm going to ignore the right's complaining because, as we all know, the right's talking heads call anything that they didn't come up with "socialist," which is a bit of a problem now that we have a genuine Stalinist in the White House. The right sounds like the boy who cried wolf to quite a few people, and tinfoil hat to many others. And while I agree that Tushy Obama's policies are flushing our constitutional republic right down the crapper, along with what's left of our liberties, it was Ronald Reagan, the supposed god of conservatism, who stood against at least half of what conservatives claim they stand for (defending the Constitution and fiscal responsibility), who picked up the ball that Nixon dropped when Liddy and the Goon Squad got busted trying to rig an election they were already going to win. Talk about fucking stupid. And the the leftists all think the right are fascists, which I find ironic as the Left is as, if not more, fascist than their counterparts on the right, so I really don't give a ratfucking shit what any of them have to say.

But I have a question for PUMAs. Why in the hell are you trying to get genuine healthcare reform out of this Congress and this Resident? Isn't this government controlled by the same douchebags that brought us May 31, 2008, shat all over Hillary Clinton, sanctioned the caucus fraud, and used ACORN to put the fix in Ohio and elsewhere? Do you honestly think they care? Do you honestly think they are listening? And if for some miraculous reason they were, what makes you think that a government that can't even properly operate and maintain a hydroelectric plant is going to possess even the remotest capability of running a single payer healthcare plan, or any other universal plan? Are you people on drugs? If so, hook me up so I can live in the alternate reality too.

You need to wake up and smell the coffee. The person who was advocating real healthcare reform is not in the White House. You're not going to get Hillary's healthcare plan. It's not going to happen, no matter how many emails you send or phone calls you make. Until there are term limits, the two party system is shattered, and the government is forced to adhere to the boundaries created for it in the Constitution, we are screwed (that thuddy sound is me banging my head against the wall). But you keep trying to get that healthcare reform.

Don't get me wrong. Fighting for healthcare reform is worthy. We need serious changes. But when you are appealing to a body that doesn't give a crap, and is obsessed with its own power you ought to be fighting that first, not trying to get it to do anything that benefits you. In case you haven't heard the name of their game is, "What's best for us is best." What you want doesn't matter. You need to change the game. If you're not concentrating all efforts on that you are wasting your time.

So what would healthcare reform look like for me? Let's start with what you don't do. You don't put the administration of American's healthcare in the hands of the federal government. Would you leave your child at a daycare whose motto is, "Dropping infants on their heads since 1972?" No, you wouldn't. We have a bureaucracy in place already. What's the real problem? The price of health insurance makes it out of reach for millions. Insurance companies deny treatment for "pre-existing conditions" and "experimental treatments," and we are flushing a fortune down the crapper subsidizing the healthcare of people who are here illegally. That doesn't make me racist, though the DNC, the Tushy administration, and ACORN says it does. Read my lips...GO FUCK YOURSELVES.

So what should we do? First, as usual, we throw the bums out and reclaim our government and republic. Then we replace the medicare tax with a healthcare tax that goes into a pool. The government serves as the middle man between us and the insurance companies. Pre-existing condition and experimental treatment conditions are eliminated. You see who you want, when you want, and get the treatments you need. No rationing, no government access to your medical records, no star chamber deciding what procedures you can have and cannot have. I'm also open to a system that drives down costs, and has no tax involved, as long as the pre-existing conditions, etc are gone, and the consumer has total freedom to choose their doctors, care, and procedures.

I think someone had a plan like that. Her name was Hillary Clinton. She's not the President. We're not getting healthcare reform. But you can bet that we are gonna get screwed.

Turn your head and cough.

Thank you .... ask a nurse, any nurse, how many times they have been consulted prior to the design of a nurses station , or any " nursing unit" where they work , if you want to hear really deep belly laughter ...
It is one of those laugh or cry for a really long time things .. like asking for health care reform...from this administration.

It's a waste of time. Like I said, it's a worthy cause, but it is not one that this Congress and Resident are interested in.

In fact, I think you're on to something. I would put the creation of a healthcare reform bill in the hands of the nurses. They are the ones on the front lines, even more so than the doctors. They are caught in the middle between administrators, doctors, patients, and the insurance companies.

The Nurses Association of Ca were the brave souls who crashed the congressional hearing , they made me proud to be a nurse .
There are solutions ... for instance ...one of the biggest problems is the overuse of the emergency rooms ..
EVERY Emergency Dept should have a 24/7 walk in clinic right next door , so the TRIAGE nurse can send them there for treatment of non-emergent problems ... while they are waiting for treatment .. they get educational information etc etc , have to attend classes... so many things can be worked out on the non emergent
level but wtf do I know I am "just a nurse"

The best health care reform comes from Dr. Tom Coburn, practicing physician and Senator from OK> It is a consumer driven plan. He proposed the plan in 2007 but of course the asshats in Congress won't even consider it.

As for single payer the PUMAs are quite wrong about it. They don't fucking understand it.

See the following post:
http://msplaceddemocrat.com/http:/msplaceddemocrat.com/the-top-myths-of-single-payer-health-care/

After using a government run health care plan --- the VA (single payer health care with rationing), I say fuck you to pelosi and her frigging cabal.

Hillary's plan wasn't really consumer driven either. It was still going to cost huge amounts of money with tax increases for all.

Dr. Coburn is right on the money. His plan hog ties the health care industry, making doctors, health care providers and insurance compnaies compete for our business.

There were definite flaws in Hillary's plan. But she had the right idea, at least in terms of reforming the system i.e. removing insurance company laden restrictions. That to me is key.

I am unfamiliar with Coburn's plan and will take a look at it.

Also... I know they call it the "health care industry "now, for a reason .. but it might be nice to put some healing back in there .. with continuity of care ... which means you get to choose and see the same doctor over time , you actually get to know the person.
oh and can the AMA stop sabotaging the Nurse Practitioners? That would be a great help. They provide care at a lower cost and have been proven to provide more thorough care . The Doctors (ok not all just enough to create problems) just hate that ...

I have been gone for a bit, but wanted to add a few things. First of all, I have said repeatedly that this administration, including Congress, is not to be trusted to enact helpful, safe, or appropriate health care reform. It is sad, because this would have been the right time to provide it. I don't trust anything coming out of this administration. Hillary's plan was excellent, but it wasn't perfect, it was pragmatic- it would have helped millions of people in a palatable way, as it didn't dramatically change the structure of the system, just made it accessible to all. I still think a single payor system is the ultimate way to go, akin to Mouseketeer's Kuehl's California plan or the current house bill backed by Jackson-Lee, et al, but it ain't gonna happen now. BO will find a way to poopoo it, as he just wants to shove dollars toward the new boondoggle of computerized med records and bypass equity in the system. He doesn't give a crap, as you state, and Baucus is backed by the insurance industry. We need to maintain private providers with a single payor method, bypassing insurance all together, except as a contracted administrative intermediary, perhaps, a la Canada. Nagonnahappin.
